Beneath the surface
Moly is a Malaysian visual artist based in Kuala Lumpur, whose work explores emotion, identity, and the delicate balance between personal truth and societal expectation. Though her creative journey began in childhood, it wasn’t a straight path to becoming an artist. Guided early on by family hopes for stability, Moly pursued a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management and spent several years building a career in the corporate world.
In 2018, after working overseas, she made the pivotal decision to return to Malaysia and commit fully to her art. Without formal training, Moly immersed herself in learning—visiting galleries, engaging with the local art community, and experimenting with different styles and techniques. Her self-taught journey became a rediscovery of purpose and self.
Moly’s practice blends abstract impressionism and conceptual art, with her pieces often reflecting inner conflict, quiet resistance, healing, and the realities of navigating two very different worlds. Her creative expression is deeply intuitive, shaped by lived experience and a desire to connect beyond words.
Today, she continues to balance her corporate role with her work as an artist—an intentional choice that supports both her livelihood and her creative freedom. For Moly, this dual life is not a contradiction, but a reflection of how structure and surrender can coexist. Through her art, she invites others into that same space of reflection, vulnerability, and emotional truth.

Since stepping fully into my art journey in 2018, I’ve had the opportunity to share my work through a growing number of exhibitions—each one marking a moment of connection, growth, and creative expression. From intimate local showings to larger curated events, these exhibitions reflect the evolving path of my practice.
